THE FINITE IN THE INFINITE: 13 Seeds Collected Through Time and Space to Propose Alternate Ways of Being
A collection of textile works/garments that showcase the cross stitch works produced with Doña Nilvia, Doña Flor, and Doña Leidy’s community of cross stitch embroiderers in Piste, Yucatán actively keeping the “hilo contado” craft alive in the face of overseas mass production of cultural products, declining support from local governments, and the closing of cultural centers that allow for generational knowledge to be passed down. The project (ongoing) has been facilitated by Maricela Ceme, a mayan woman who I grew up with. The project also includes “cocoyol” and agave spine natural beading produced with Don Esteban in Izamal, Yucatán and “Eri Silk” woven textile collaborations produced with regenerative initiative 7 weaves in Assam, India.
This collection was produced as my graduate project from Central Saint Martins and was made possible by the support of the LVMH and Maison/0 Scholarship Grant.

Excerpts from Piste and Izamal Yucatán. (2025)
